Four neighbourhoods, four characters

Trieste is a small city (you can walk across most of it), but every neighbourhood has a distinct character. Here’s an honest guide to four areas, drawn from direct experience: we have a residence in each one.

Stazione Centrale: for arriving by train and wanting ease

The area around Stazione Centrale is practical: a few minutes on foot from Borgo Teresiano, the Grand Canal and Piazza Unità d’Italia, convenient if you arrive without a car or want easy access to the rest of Friuli Venezia Giulia. This is where you’ll find The Maison, our largest apartment, with a private terrace and garage: built for anyone who wants a solid base and real space.

Borgo Teresiano: the elegant heart, steps from the Grand Canal

Borgo Teresiano is Habsburg Trieste at its purest: grid streets, eighteenth-century palazzi, the Grand Canal running through it up to the church of Sant’Antonio Nuovo. It’s the single most central area in the city. Here you’ll find both The Collector, a design residence in dark woods and 1980s marble, and The Architect, a split-level loft with its own private terrace.

Cavana: the liveliest part of the old town

Cavana is different: more working-class, more alive, full of small shops, osterie and the city’s real everyday life. It’s two minutes from Piazza Unità but has a character all its own. This is where we have The Essentialist, a minimalist fourth-floor apartment built for anyone looking for a slower stay in an authentic neighbourhood.

How to choose

Space and ease for a family or a longer stay: Stazione Centrale (The Maison). The most central, most elegant address: Borgo Teresiano (The Collector or The Architect). The liveliest neighbourhood, with real Trieste right outside the door: Cavana (The Essentialist).
